From 2011 to 2018 the number of official citizenship by investment programs in the world has grown from two to twelve. Over the same period, the annual amount of investment through these programs has grown from $ 43 million to $ 3 billion. Such a rapid development of the industry attracts more and more countries. So, in 2020, another 14 states may begin to sell passports for investment. Among them: Albania, Kenya, Mauritius, Northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Micronesia and others.

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has released a new CIP report. From January 1 to June 30, 2019, the CBI Unit received 241 applications: 233 investors chose donation, 5 — investment in real estate, and only 3 — investment in a business. At the same time, 644 passports were issued. Since the program was launched, the CBI Unit received 2188 applications, and issued 4157 passports (to both the main applicants and their families).

The annual quota for Cyprus CBI program is 700 applications. In 2019, this quota has already been filled. It turns out that applications accepted from mid-October are postponed to 2020. According to the Kathimerini publication, the number of applicants for 2020 has also reached a limit of 700. Therefore, applications submitted in the near future will be considered and approved only in 2021.
According to a survey conducted in 40 international investment migration companies, the Grenada CBI program should become the best-selling in 2019. According to official data for the third quarter, Grenada approved 156 applications for citizenship, and issued 439 passports.

Ana Catarina Mendes, the leader of the Socialist bench, said at a budget meeting in the Portuguese parliament that her party plans to ban the issuance of “golden visas” to those investors who bought property in Lisbon and Porto.
